MANIPULATION

AFTER PREVIOUSLY LOOKING AT GEORGIA HARDINGE & THEA BJERG AND HOW THEY MANIPULATED FABRICS TO CREATE STRUCTURE IN A MORE 3D WAY, I THOUGHT ABOUT WAYS I COULD POTENTIALLY DO THIS. LEADING ME TO USE CUTAWAY, MANIPULATING THE PAPER AND FORMING THESE 3D SHAPES. I FEEL THIS TECHNIQUE WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AS IT HAS BROUGHT A MORE EXCITING ELEMENT TO MY DESIGNS AND CREATES INTERESTING TEXTURES. TO PROGRESS WITH THIS FURTHER I THOUGHT ABOUT USING THE LASER CUTTER AND TRYING OUT SUCH TECHNIQUES. FABRIC SELECTION WILL BE KEY AS I WILL HAVE TO USE A STIFF ENOUGH FABRIC TO BE ABLE TO CURVE AND BEND LIKE PAPER.

I ALSO WANT TO KEEP VISUALISING MY DESIGNS ON THE BODY AS IT PROVES HELPFUL TO ME AS I AM ABLE TO SEE IF MY DESIGN WOULD WORK ON THE BODY OR JUST LOOK ODD.

AFTER PLACING MY DESIGNS ON THE MANNEQUIN I CAN SEE THAT THEY WOULD WORK PERFECTLY ON THE BODY IN VARIOUS POSITIONS.THIS HAS EXCITED ME TO PROGRESS WITH THIS METHOD DEVELOPING IT WITH FABRIC USING THE LASER CUTTER.ANOTHER AREA TO THINK ABOUT IS SCALE. HOW LARGE I COULD MAKE THEM, HOW WILL THE CUTAWAY AREAS BE EFFECTED?
