FABRIC DEVELOPMENT - BOTH COLLECTIONS

HARD TO TELL ON THE IMAGE, HOWEVER THE RIGHT HAND SIDE IS THE FABRIC CREPE DE CHINE AND ON THE LEFT SILK HABOTAI. THE CREPE DE CHINE HAS MORE OF A MATTE FINISH AND ENHANCES THE COLOUR TONES AND TEXTURES WITHIN THE DESIGN MUCH BETTER THAN THE HABOTAI. THE HABOTAI HAS TOO MUCH OF A SHINE TO IT AND I FEEL FOR MY MARKET THE CREPE DE CHINE WOULD SUIT BEST AS IT HAS MORE OF A SOPHISTICATED ELEMENT TO THE FABRIC.

THERE ARE NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE FABRICS BUT THE SMALLEST DETAIL SUCH AS HABOTAI BE A LITTLE TOO SHINY, CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE FOR YOUR COLLECTION. THEREFORE ALLOWING ME TO SEE BOTH FABRICS STOPS POTENTIAL ERRORS.

FOR MY SECOND COLLECTION I CHOSE BETWEEN CREPE DE CHINE AND SINGLE GEORGETTE. THE SINGLE GEORGETTE (RIGHT) OBVIOUSLY LOOSES COLOURS BUT I LIKE THE TEXTURAL AND OPACITY QUALITIES IN INHABITS. THE CREPE DE CHINE BRINGS OUT THE COLOURS HOWEVER I FEEL AS IF IT IS QUITE OVER POWERING AND I PREFER THE SUBTLE TONES AND I FEEL WOULD SUIT MY AUDIENCE MORE.
