THEA BJERG & GEORGIA HARDINGE
THEA BJERG AND GEORGIA HARDINGE ARE TWO DESIGNERS WHO USE PLEATING AND FOLD WITHIN THEIR WORK BUT USING DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES. YOU CAN SEE BJERG'S DESIGNS ARE MORE FREE AND FLEXIBLE, WHEREAS HARDINGE'S ARE MORE STRUCTURED. THEY BOTH HAVE A ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT ABOUT THEM DUE TO THE MANIPULATION OF THE FABRIC. AFTER SEEING THESE EXAMPLES I THOUGHT ABOUT HOW I COULD DIGITALLY PRINT THEN CREATE FOLDS AND PLEATING, COMBINING BOTH MY LINEAR AND TEXTURAL ELEMENTS TOGETHER. IT INTERESTS ME HOW BOTH DESIGNERS HAVE CREATED STRUCTURES BY CHANGING THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE OF THEIR MATERIALS. AN IDEA/CONCEPT TO THINK ABOUT WITIN MY OWN WORK.
